Hi all.

My name is Tony Groom I'm an ex Royal Navy Clearance Diver. After doing my time I went on to do too many years up in the North Sea, sat and air, and around the world as a commercial diver.

I have been paid to dive since I was 17. I am now 49. I have never had a 9 to 5 or done anything that doesn't involve getting wet! Well until now that is.

I'm trying to make a few bob from writing. My first attempt has gone really well. I wrote DIVER, last year and seeing as I haven't slept with a footballer, or had a breast enlargement, I think it has gone really well! (I've sold around 25,000)

If anyone would like a signed copy, please have a look at my site:

If you want to read some reviews from England have a look at the link below:

Anyway, I look forward to any crushing reviews!!

Regards Tony.

Where did you come accross it in NZ? I got an email of a bloke diving on a budget round the world. He was in a second hand bookshop just outside of Laos and picked up my book!
Glad you enjoyed it.

Thanks
Frikkie

Have you tried Amazon.com? They seem to send it anywhere. If not, I could send it if you have a secure post box.

Hello Tony,

I recieved your book from my wife as a Christmas gift back in 08'. Great book. She bought the book for me because I was a USMC Combatant Diver, now a commercial diver, and big into military history. It was a great read. I was watching a film on the military channel about the Falklands and I remembered a few items you wrote. I ended up reading the book again. Thanks for the knowledge that you passed on. Hope your well and another book comes our way.
Steve
Glad you enjoyed it mate. The next one is finished I'm just trying to get it out there. What a pain the publishing world is. It'll be right up your street when its out though. It involves the SBS and some of their sneaky beaky gear.
Thanks for letting me know.

I wrote a peice to go on the inside cover, it went something like:
On no account should you lend this book to another diver.
He will either lose it, break it, deny ever having it or use it as a hammer!

She wouldn't let me put it in. I wish I had. I reckon one book does at least 20 divers.
The other one is finished, its just getting it out there.

Trust me Tony I keep it under lock and key. Im worse than a 80yr old bitter libaryan!!!! let me know when the new one is out. Ill take several 1 for my libary and the others for the boat as to eliminate the "Denying"

Cheers

You should specialise, mate. Instead of a big print run, get a couple of dozen copies made Bell-proof, and sell them to the DSV's for a grand apiece. Either that, or have lots and lots made out of non-water-resistant tissue paper (can you print on Rice paper?! is there paper that dissolves in Helium?). It's called planned Obsolescence, and I wish Clive Cussler would take that route!
Stu
That is a good idea. You know what most companies are like though, tight as ****.
It was suggested that I write it on bog paper, with the perforations along the spine. Then, when sat on the throne, as you finish a page, you simply, swipe and wipe and flush!
That might get my sales up as well if you had to flush it away!
Tony
