Well I take acception to being called "chicken little". And it's pretty nieve to think nothing is gonna change at Global. Sure, the key essential personnel will keep their jobs, but the fat will get trimmed. When…
Another IMCA fanboy...
The point of ANY company is PROFIT. Neither Veolia nor any other company, IMCA or not, is in this game as a hobby or for altruistic motives. We are here to make money, for ourselves, and the fine people that invest in our…
Veolia is all about profits. They would loose money if they brought things up to IMCA standards.
Technip is a major player, the O&G companies want safer practices from their diving contractors. The winds of change are coming.…
@ Evan: I don't see how a change of ownership would invalidate contractual obligations.
@ Paiste: I don't see any "house cleaning" coming for Global. Do you think they would replace sat divers and hyperbaric welders that have…
Owen, yep, he wrote a great letter of recommendation for me. I tended Owen on many a piple laying job - we got along great. Marty, Dan, Rob, Steve, dude, can't remember them all, but worked many long hours on the Ingram Bargers 3,5 & 7, then CalDiver came along. Things slowed, I went to work for Avondale in Bayou Black, What happened to the Shop Foreman, Gerald Lorimore? Is he still around? Gerald got me involved in the shop, spent more time on the beach running the shop, welding, repairing Tescom regulators, making hoses, running to N.O. rebuilding compressors, & hot h20 machine!
I wrestled with Boudreax for years, myself and others built Don's place on 4 Mile Bayou out in Stephensville. Yep, TG Stephens became a good friend of mine, the neighbors next to Don's fed me Cajun lunch every Friday! Best friends ever. Rob, what a guy! He scared the living poop out of me one night, I crept over to his place and he met me with his trusty 9mm outside! I told him, Hey Rob, its me, but he was chewing his cigar, pushing steel into my skull and telling me to shut the F@*& up! WOW, I spent many a long hour on the barges with Rob! Best damn Lead Tender and great guy! James
Hi Mike, what is the job status offshore these days? I worked for S&H Diving, IOD and CalDive all in the early 80s. I worked with Owen Kratz, Dan Beggs, and a host of other divers,
