Hi Emily,
Nice to hear from you.
The industry world wide has slowed down now, hopefully it will pick up later this year.
Looking at your messages you want your certs IMCA.
It is the way to go,unfortunate for you the US has been slow to adjust and change.
With you breaking out I would recommend you get your certs ASAP. IMCA if they are not. Working offshore is the way to go and does not evolve around the Gulf only! There is a lot of work out there for air divers who are hungry enough to go find it.
My training was done in Canada and in S.Africs my part 2 at PDI. My Sat was done in Marseiles France. All IMCA.
The time for female diver is now to get in at junior level offshore and work there way up. Get any experience you can from shipping to sivels and be prepaired in the beginning to work for peanuts or volunteer to gain hours of experience. Again the question is how badly you want it.
Secondly are you willing to travel abroad to go work in the Middle East, West Africa and Far East?
Knowing the right people and having contacts also helps to get ahead.
You need minimum the following to work international Offsore.
- HSE IMCA Part 1
- IMCA DMT
- OPITO Offshore Survivale
- Yellow Fever Card and all shots
- Seamans Book
- Passport

Having Hydrolic and electrical experience or any additional experience doing courses in off time will assist as well.

Hope this will help you.

Hi Emily,
Hope you keeping well. Was going through cdiver and you poped up. Not often ladies are found in the oil offshore industry. Where do you work most, full time or contract.
I have been work offshore for over 15 years. I'm in Nigeria now on a SAT job on the HD Contender. We are doing some are wok now and the saturation will start towards month end.
I live in S.Africa and have a Canadian as well, so i get around a bit.
Ever been out this way?
Hope to hear from you soon.

Cheers
