I have been working out of Nigeria for HydroDive for the best part of 3 years, a good mate of mine was taken and held for 9 months, although he was treated fairly well it was a long time for him and his family to endure. I myself was beaten up and robbed aboard The Donaux barge at Christmas 2008 when an armed gang came aboard. As far as us offshore workers are concerned I think we are a little bit safer than those who are shore based, although Hydro Dive have now moved their base to Lagos, at the end of the day it is still Nigeria and you take your chances if you want to work. I would respect the travel advice and wouldn`t take anything with me that would be difficult to replace. Once bitten, twice shy!
I saw the ad for the 3.1u job on subsea work, but I have never had a peply or even a sniff from anything I`ve applied for on that site! I have never heard of Horizine either and can`t find them on the net, unless they are an Iford based company.
