I am looking at going offshore for the 1st time and I was wondering what to expect and which companies are better to work for. Any info would be helpful

If you find a company starting you out at at least 15 ph as a tender (I don't know how much water time you have logged.) that pays travel, and has insurance. Take it and learn from the divers around you. Dont "cut-throat" other tenders or divers for bottom time. First timers, learn and advance in "earned time".
There are several dozen companies out there, some good some bad. You'll have to figure that one out on your own. Everyone views different conditions differently...
Don't jump at the first job, unless its going to pay your bills and keep you healthy. Safety records are the most important things to look at in equal value to pay. May sound confusing, but that's the long and short of it from my desk. Someone else's advise may be different, and easier to understand. Good Luck
