I have heard good things about UCC. I believe it was US Underwater Services (?) that came up north here to offer some OPEX on nuke diving. What Edward Southworth and Marty Jones said is spot on. Not sure what its like in the US, but we have Zebra…

If you find a company starting you out at at least 15 ph as a tender (I don't know how much water time you have logged.) that pays travel, and has insurance. Take it and learn from the divers around you. Dont "cut-throat" other…

Don't bother. They don't really do much welding, and you won't be diving there for a good year or two anyway. haha.

Wet welder cert

I am thinking of going down to the Commercial Diving Academy an getting my wet welder cert. Is it worth it or should I just not bother dropping the cash right now for it and just go down to the GOM with my topside welder certs?

EMT, DMT and HCT certs on rigs

Thumbnail
I graduated from DAI a few months back and had to take a few months off from working due to a knee injury. I am looking to head off shore at the end of March. While I am in recovery I am planning on getting my EMT-B cert. Is it worth also getting my DMT and HCT cert? I heard that getting my HCT cert would screw me over and pretty much just make me a inside chamber tender and I won't get to do any diving at all.Can someone please give me some advice on what is right and wrong about all this.See More

The way I look at it is we are all on here cause we are divers of one sort or the other. And the only thing I have ever asked for or heard on the forms is for leads to jobs, who is good to work for and who is not. But to those who have asked…

I for one would like to know from someone 1st hand what would happen, but I think you should just not take that chance. Just think of this "Your life or your coke. Your choice"

It makes perfect sense to me. I was told that out of school I would be in the water making 100k a year. I have been out for a month and haven't found anything in the Philly PA area. I am back to topside welding and pouring concrete till I find…

Yeah, 1 more week to go.. Think I am gonna do a EMT/DMT class right outta school and just get it done with and see what doors that opens up for me. Best of luck local, from what i gather everyone looking local aren't having much luck.
