its not about the money, its about the education, get a course description from every school you can. Getting by for less money usually means less education. Trust this Donald, I've been a Diver more than 20years, enjoy the learning while the buisness is slow. Learn as many related crafts after graduation that will serve you in this business. THe interview you hold for the school, not visa versa will make the difference in your future...
and by the way thank you to all of you for the information. And Jerry where did you get your education? you ever work in alaska in your 20 yrs of diving?
I went to a little place in South Carolina called International Diving Institute. Every Project and Tank was built by the students. I "interviewed" damn near every school in the country, and at 43, they all thought I was crazy! Even my VA counselor. But I had a ball. You are taught what the book requires, and all the relevent "required stuff. Then there are the projects. JUst because its small dont let it fool you. THe course is set up so that the "Down Time" you have when most choose to walk around and stare into space, can be used to brush up on your topside or underwater welding. Keeping it simple and "day to day" helped me complete the course. They dont try to sell image, just fact, they have a page on face book. In the pictures look for class 11-09 Im the "old Fart " known as Grey Wolf! Call they will give you straight no BS answers. and if it helps, call me directly 256-312-3423.
Hey bro, thats where I went and got my certs, if you wanna know anything about it like first hand I can pretty much give you a run down on the wh*** thing :)
so will you know a guy named peter that works there? i was on the phone with a guy that did more of the recreational stuff so he didn't know as much about the commercial end of it. so they say that you are certified for inshore and you have to go elsewhere for your offshore ticket?
Ill send you a email thing about it, Ill be long winded otherwise.
Sent!
I for one Miss livin in CR, if you like the outdoors and a bit of the redneck vibe then its the place for you, Courtney is like 20 minutes away and loaded with a solid night life (the area around it) and more hot chicks then should be legal for a town that small, its messed up, its like all the families with hot daughters said lets move there!
And if you really wanna cut loose Nanimo and Victoria are a couple hours away for a weekend of letting of steam. Vancouver 3 hours including ferry ride and its a concert or just general GO time!!!
Looooovvveeeeee the island!
only people from the same city can tell me how great it is?? hmmm
ya it might be a nice island but i called them fifty f***ing times left messages. after about 3 weeks of that they finally sent me a brochure that was just like their website.
Talking about the island in a wh*** dude, and I think anyone that has lived there can tell you how great it is.
Although I think Mike and I are the only people that regularly cruise these forums that live/lived there.
So you gotta take our opinion and like it :)
