To all you guys out there that have been in the game for a while how much civils diving experiance do you think its necesary to have before considering the move to the offshore market (not the minimum) also what type of civils best relates to the type of work bieng done out there

Hi George,

Just go for it mate, if you have done plenty of civils work and are ok with it and not totally useless, I can assure you, that you will be good enough for the offshore game.

The work is varied as with civils, for instance, riser clamp installations, spm inspections and maintanance,
broco cutting, installing and maintaining flexible risers, spooling, hydra tight systems, riser installations etc...... the list is endless.

The type of civils that best relates to offshore work is safety and common sense, if you have this you wont go far wrong.

As soon as you feel comfortable making the move to offshore, and are willing to learn is probably when you are ready to make the move! Like Richard said, as long as you have your head on your shoulders you`ll probably be OK. But don`t jump into offshore before you think you`re ready!

thanx guys i recon ill start thinking about it when i get to 1000 hours
soon as posible cose you will learn on the job dont waist time siting at home or doing schuba diving on land , nobuddy is perfect we all got to learn sometime good luck
