            Jim

hey Jim,

Have you worked at all yet since dive school in the business ??? And if you ahve then have you made back the money you spent on dive school ?

Your honesty might be a nice reality check for some of the ppl out there with big plans..

No..but in all fairness i wasnt able to work for minimum wage at the time.

glad you said so.

And you shouldnt have to. I mean I dunno many people who think its a good idea to spend 20g on school to make minimum wage.

got all my bills paid now and ready for a change..here in fl the going rate is $15 i here.

Hi guys im in the same position i qualified as a class 2 diver in 2010 and have only done 6 months work since then making $100 a day for a 12hr or 15hr day shift i even went to kenya and worked for free for 3 months just to gain some experience and take on any diving job i can wether its paid or at my own expense but i can't go on like this we all got bills to pay,i may have to give it up altough its the last thing i want to do as i have a passion for diving and have only ever wanted to make an honest living out of it,i been offered a contract in the construction industry doing electrical, soler instalation and instalations of new airconditioning units but its a 5 year contract and although i would rather be a diver i am running out of options and may have to consider it what do i do ?.Do i send another 400 cv's to various diving companies?

Well for one, you dont work for free because that is part of the problem why no one can make a decent living at this. Why should a company pay me a decent wage when they can get you for free ???

experience is built over time, its always rough when your new and starting off in a job you have to build your name. And being known as the guy who works for free isnt something you want following you.

You just gotta keep pounding the pavement and calling places and hounding them. Then they will give you a chance at some point. When you get that chance make the most of it hopfully they keep calling you back, and hopfully they are a good company to work for that pay decent. Then after a while you have 3 or 4 companies that keep calling you steady and you can scratch out a living on it

but working for free is just a d*** move

I'll get on that freelance list for jobs paying current prevailing wages..
