I have seen a number of discussions about weightbelts. I seem to have misplaced my heavy belt mold (haven't used it in 10 years) so does any one have an easy way to make a mold using the weights I have as a male model?

I got some furnace cement to try. Unless anyone has anything better.

Bill,

you can fab a mold out of 1/4 inch steel plate, weld sides to plate at a slight angle with a hight of the thickness of lead you want. slight angle on ends also. weld external only so inside edges are smooth.

weld a 12 inch long 3/4 pipe to it for a handle.

prior to pouring lead into mold smoke the mold with soot from acetylene so the lead will fall out.

If you do a one off you can use casting sand, do not use moist sand as lead will turn moisture to steam and you will get an eye full of lead.

3" ship channel cut 4" long at a slight angle on ends.  Weld plates on ends a little long top to bottom so you can flip it over and tap it on the floor to dump the weight out.  Make sure you add two pieces of round stock for your bolt h***s, drilling lead is a bitty. Example: drill two h***s in the mold, take a 1/4" bolt 5" long with 1" of threads on the end and run a nut up on it.  Then stick that end through the h*** and nut the other side.  Finally cut the bolt heads off.  Now you have your bolt h***s and the impression of a nut cast into your weight.  May have to ream the h***s out a little since you'll be bolting them on with 1/4" bolts.  Looks like store bought!
