You don't even know where companies are before you went to school? What's OC shafting you about 20k? In oct good luck getting hired anywhere on the coast since it'll be slow season again. Sorry to burst your bubble but be ready for hard times.

Of course I checked out company locations, and the schools about 18k but with all of the training, besides diving, while the rest of ya'll are suckin your thumbs, I'll be doin ndt to stay afloat. I'm guessin that you must be THE billy bad ass of the dive industry? I know about the seasonal work and how that rolls, I've been a roughneck most of my life. But thanks for giving me not one bit of advice. Dont worry, I'm not in the position to take your job just yet!

Orrin is right, definately since you are just now in class it's not something to worry about. Ray was for sure one of the best teachers I have had their, I graduate in June with 411. Companies will not even talk to you unless you only have a little less than a month left of school.

Try to get hired on with a smaller company that will dive you as a tender. Get some experience in the water and after a year or 2 go to a bigger company that is looking for experience tenders. Wait a year or half more and try to break out. From what I've learn to stay in the industry. Don't blow your first big checks on beer,drugs,hookers or a big F-250 you don't need.

That method would just prolong your tending career. And blowing your money on hookers and beer is what tenders do haha. Save your money man winter time is rough.

Yeah and the guys that blow there money are the first ones that quit or get fired for not being able to wake up the next day to get on the job ( 2 guys just got fired last week for this). Yeah it'll prolong your career but not for long. You'll get the experience in the water at a smaller company which is what the bigger companies will want. I hear the break out period now for the bigger companies like cal-dive etc are 4-5 years. Some are wanting 100 dives. So get as many dives at you can with a smaller company. I just transferred to a bigger company and have 2-3times more dives than most of the LT's. Plus smaller companys have more work in the winter with the mud-h***. Oh and don't expect to make alot now.. I hear guys coming out of school are getting 14$ an hour

The best time to get hired is after a hurricane, so cross your fingers for a big one. To get hired now is gonna be very tough. You'll have to be at the right place at the right time. Go from office to office, have your bags packed ready to go in your vehicle. Wear clothes that look like you're ready to work. You will have to piss in a cup so be clean. You won't get hired over the phone, you need to go to the office. Take your piercings out and cover your tattoos. Look the Ops man in the eye. Don't brag on your self, just answer his questions honestly, they've heard it all and will lie to you about work load. Some companies only interview on certain days so call ahead, if they are slow they might not even take your resume'. If you can, put down a LA, or TX address and phone #, they don't hire tenders that live in a different state than the company. If you really want to work for a certain company, show up every day and apply again and again. I had to apply to the same company 3 times until I was hired. Be fit, physical fitness is a part of your job. Remember that you are NOT a diver, you want to be a diver and this is gonna take several years for you to achieve.
