im currently going to school for welding (getting all certs possible), and soaking up as much info on the commercial diving industry as i can before i start school for it in/around may 2010. (Considering D.I.T.)

sorry for the late respond but it is going good. just got in the water for the first time and there is a lot to learn. its kinda hard to swim with the dry suite but its one hell of a work out. even in the cold water u do not feel it that much so never a need to worry there.

I went to school, FIT, Class '82, went to work in the GOM, worked my ass off, made diver, then the economy took a dump, so welding certs and other skills, like carpentry, electronics, computers or something along those lines will keep you working no matter what the industry does, and there are good years and really bad years in the offshore industry. Don't be fooled, you can get hyped up but do your homework and network with these guys, my hat is off to anyone who sticks out the tough years in this industry.
