JOEY C. SEGOVIA replied to Michael D.'s discussion 'Dive Knives'
A very good and worthwhile discussion with great content submitted by all. As you can see the divers knife is a tool that has multiple uses and I believe that the brand of knife you have does not matter as much as having two on your harness…

Roger that my man! Yes I do need to think seriously about Leroy's offer. However, in the mean time if you need it jump on it. I'm sure we could set some other piling somewhwere at his dock to support another boat as well. I have some lift…

Roger that Dale. I do believe it is possible for the grounds to absorb stray current and I also think a knife switch on the ground certainly would not hurt the situation but there could be a "learning curve" as to when it is open or closed…

Dale, Your points are very well stated and very well taken. I for one appreciate your passion and as a fellow experienced hand in this business I feel the frustration and yet I believe in a real commitment to it. Anyone who goes into this…

Tom/Craig, Tom thank you for letting Craig in on the two pole contacts hope it helps. Craig I think that it is worth mentioning that somewhere in all of this there exists the natural and somewhat unavoidable "water grounding" of the vessel…

Well said and points well taken John. There is no doubt the diver knows when there is current he is the first one to know! I'm with you that there needs to be some real world testing on all of this and I do not mean testing to support the…

Craig great communication on this and I for one appreciate you looking out for your divers doing the work and trying to put yourself in their "hats" so to speak. As most will attest in this business this tends to be an exception and not…

You are so right my friend ! I'm all for a real certification of our profession across the board it is so long overdue it is just not funny. And I don't necessarily mean ADC,IMCA blah, blah. Real certification needs to come by way of a…

Bill I do remember the guys who mentored me using these and explaining how to use them. Also "seacut" and "jetcut" are still good burning rods but as I say they require more skill from the burner. In reality the company offering…

All of the issues of this discussion from the deaths themselves to the scientific explanation of the causes of death and morbidity in relation to u/w burning are indeed worth analyzing and interpreting. My utmost respect to these divers and their…

Hey Joey! It has been awhile. Yeah, I am still in the business 'cuz I just don't know much else. Have thought a bit about retiring lately and continuing building my place in Guatemala as an artist retreat and school and helping a friend in Mexico build a school but in the meantime still chuggin' away trying to help the hands stay healthy. And you? Damn! I hadn't even thought about Rusty Wright in awhile. I used to tend that big bugger, what a job to lift him up to the water stops!

It has been many years since I heard of Glen Taylor. Last I heard was he retired to his pine tree farm in North Lousiiana.

Hey Joey, yes I am that Rusty Wright. and I do remember you and that list of old timers!

I am out of the business now for almost 13 years. Currently working for the Minerals Management Service in New Orleans.

I left Martech, went to AOD for a year or so then Fox Underwater. Always pushing for safety for the hands.

Good luck to you and yours - Rusty
