What do you like to do with your down time / onshore time?: I am scientist (marine biologist). I am doing large scale survies of coral reefs. Wirh my own contructed highTec/ highPower fluorescence torches I monitor the staus of the reef during night dives. This means I am not a commercial diver, but looking for sustainability of the worldwide endangaerd coral reefs. I saw an article of Bernie Rosenberger, whre he descibes the use of underwater-fluorescence in controlling oil pipelines. I am leading in underwater fluorescence in Europe, since I contructed the first HighTech/HighPower fluorescence torches worldwide since 2007. I have also contact to the university of Rostock, whre they introduced an underwater GPS-system. (buoy at the surface, monitor at Camera connected with a scooter). This approach would be important for the reproducible detection of threatened coral blocks even after 1 year. So far the interest of the group in Rostock is limited, since they have other projects and they have no additional source of money from a grant. So I would be happy to be accepted as a member of cDiver, to get contact with the professional diver community.
