What do you like to do with your down time / onshore time?: skydive, workout, surf, triathalons, camp, shoot, spending time with my wife.

I did alot of time at regt hq. came in as fist team but reclassed to 11 bullet catcher to get more schools. How are things with you-what is your current ao?

At 6:08pm on September 22, 2009, Toby Dodd said…: you're welcome. and as far as waiting or not...i would call the company and tell them your plan. i'd go there pesonally and have a sit down with them to show you're serious before you leave for your dmt class. tell them you'd like to hire on as soon as you get back. right now i think there's somewhat of a hiring freeze with most, but i heard epic just hired someone. you'll have to stay a few steps ahead of the game to get hired right now. good luck to you.

At 4:00pm on September 22, 2009, Toby Dodd said…: don't take the dmt course. wait until you get hired and then the company will pay for it. since les joiner isn't there right now, i don't know who makes phone calls for students to companies for hiring. if ron still teaches burning and welding, ask him who does. i'll ask les today what he knows about it. at cal dive, it's a very different hiring process from when i started. i drove over 2 weeks before grad, sat down with mr. trahan and got hired. the office personnel have changed alot since then. mark corkhill is in offshore resources...he might be a good person to ask who to talk to. and cal dive is a great company to work for. have no problems with them.
