Hi Stuart, This hat was one of many designed like Joe Savoie's flip up style lightweight hats-KirbyMorgan had a clamshell, the Piel, Helmax and others, something just occurred to me -these helmets came on the tail of lightweight heavy gear ie Yokohama hats, KirbyMorgan, Toa, etc. There was a routine -attaching the helmet to the dress and the annoyance of getting all the gear on to be stood down, pause for other preparations to be completed pre-dive, I can recall waiting on s*** while I was dressed in, my tender had tied me to the ladder while he ran away for some very important mission (to have a smoke) Don't quote me but the only other way to talk to the diver (other than running to the radio) was to open hie face port...

I've seen this before. Always wondered why someone would want to have their hat open that way..
