I remember the day when IOD/CalDive acquired this boat ffrom State Boat, was the Sea Level 11, as used by Peter Gimbal and his Oceaneering Divers, some who worked for IOD later. This hulk was turned in to the CalDiver 1, what a feat! We took on 23' waves off Galveston back in '84 with this boat, I was on night watch with Rob Golly, we were p***** in the wind as the waves were washing the welding machines, hydraulics, the cherry picker and gas bottles were floating across the deck, what a nightmare, all hands on deck chaining everything down. We had calm seas coming back to port then this wild ass storm out of no where came up and gave us one nightmare ride in!
