ok yeah i gotcha we also do something similar for the dockwise where you dock vessels on the deck of a transport ship, and set the jacks or blocks as it ballasts up ( http://www2.dockwise.com/projects/33 )

That is centering u r saying. But for this,there's 3 to 4 row of blocks at both side port/stbd. 1st dive we gotta bring down the top-piece from each blocks(so call 'zeroing') and wait till the vessel is sit on the center block we will do our 2nd dive by pushing the top-piece to rest properly to the hull. Each row could have 20++ blocks.

i have done this job before, where you line up the centerline with the docking blocks
