I suppose that all depends on where you're looking... What part of the country do you plan to work in? I grew up and lived in a coastal area (NJ) so there was work to be done with all the waterfront on the ocean, rivers, and bays. Now I work offshore in the GOM and do some inland work when the call comes in and if I'm free.
There are, however, companies in the middle of the US that successfully operate in rivers and lakes, water treatment plants, potable water standpipes and tanks, etc. They do travel quite a bit, though.
