You should check out American Marine Corporation or Global Divers. Global bought out Offshore in AK, they are a great company and are union. I work anywhere I can right now. Winter is coming soon in AK so not sure how much work there is. I work in Guam as well as other places.

There's a lot of competition out there right now. Not saying that there is no work, but it seems that dive schools are really pumping out the people. You should think about gaining other skills as well. Oh, do not believe everything you hear from 'instructors', they are being paid to tell you what you want to hear. Why aren't they diving right now in the GOM? I have been at it for 10 years now, still enjoy it and love traveling but have diversified my skills. Your photos remind me of those fateful days of 'dive school' and make me chuckle a bit. Except for the 5 days of learning how to setup a rack and don your superlite, everything else is really taught in the field. Don't be discouraged though, you can still make some money at it.

Let's see, 18K for school and probably another 12K or so to live in Seattle? If you took a 'student loan' out you will be paying that back for a while. You sound like you know what you want and you should go for it. The truth is , the GOM is where divers are born and bred. Like horses, the ones that come out like runts are put down. Think about it this way: You are running a dive company and need to hire five DIVERS, you will likely pick the one's that broke out in the Gulf, period. I know how you feel about staying put, but you need to think about making a real career from your investment. Good luck.

Im working for Resolve Marine Group at the moment there primarily a salvage company, im leaving tomarrow to go do a job with the coast gaurd, they do all call out emergency jobs for government mostly.

Ya bro gulf is kinda slow right now unless you been with a company for awhile but thats how it is some times we need a big hurricane to come in f*** some s*** up haha, ive been working pretty steady though, if you want ill tell you the good companies to go with and the ones that stay busy the most.

Ya bro when I 1rst got out of school me and 2 other buddies went down to the gulf, we went to all the big companies and filled out applications and got lucky, when we when to Stolt Offshore we got an interview the same day and got hired on the same day, thats what you gotta do if you wanna work down there. But... the gulf has changed a lot, whem d you get out of school?
