I'm sending you a link to some Norwegian companies you can apply to.
I don't know where you got your list from (maybe longstreath) but I got the link below from a Swedish guy working offshore. let me know if anyone replied.
I was supposed to be a military diver but I didn't pass the miliary medical which is extremely strict over here in Croatia. my eyesight was a problem even if I had a slight correction and wasn't even wearing gla****. The eyesight has to be as if you were a damn jet pilot. However after my military time was over I went to college and since I was very good at languages I decided to give it a try but I never forgot about diving and I can tell you one thing. I will do anything it takes to make it happen. I have always wanted to make diving my way of life and I will never forgive myself if I now let the opportunity slip away for a second time.
Well, the problem is that the course lasts 4 months and that's longer than any other course in Europe. I could use my tourist visa if the course lasted 3 months. In that case I would have nothing to worry about but since the course lasts longer I have to apply for a residence permit and that takes a lot of paperwork. Also I forgot to tell you that the guys in the Norwegian group are very hard to reach. I guess they are very busy. Not like the rest of the diving world. Sometimes it takes weeks till somebody replies. And yes I do work, but my friend it has nothing to do with diving. Unfortunately.
I still haven't finished all the paperwork yet. Its a lot of paperwork and I was told that my application can still be refused. I don't know the procedure if you apply for a permit in case of finding a job in Norway. I'm applying as a student and it still proves to a son of b****. Considering work I was told that there's plenty of work if you want to start in the fish farming industry, which of course isn't the best option but I wouldn't care. Anything that can get me experience would be good enough. When it comes down to inland or even offshore I really don't know what to tell you. Maybe you should check out the Norwegian diving group on cdiver and find somebody who you could talk to. There are also people from Sweden and other Scandinavian countries. I don't know man I have been on this site every day following the oil prices and other information. the only thing I have is a huge motivation to start with this line of work, but it's so discouraging to see so many divers out of work.
s***, that sucks. I'm waiting for my course to start in March 2010. What is it with the industry that even people like you with years of experience can't find work?
