Hi Marco,
Its been a long time. How are you. We're great here in CA, except for the wild fires. I don't live near any that are burning right now, but do have friends and family in southern CA that have been impacted by the fires. Luckily, no family or friends have lost their homes or been injured, but it can be pretty scary all the same.
Well, Travis has found a job with C-dive, a company our of Houma, Louisana. They do both on shore, and off shore work. Travis just got back on shore from an oil rig fix in the Gulf of Mexico, and will be going back out in a week or so. He is really happy to be working. C-dive is a smaller company than some in Louisana, and Travis is setteling in. He loves the work, and the folks he works with.
Well, take care, be safe, and let me know what you have been up to.
Lisa
Hi Marco,
My name is Lisa, and I would like to thank you for the add. I have to admit that I am not the girlfriend or wife of a diver, but the mother of one. My Travis Smith graduated from Santa Barbara City College's Comercial Diving and Marine Technology Program in May.
He is now down in Louisiana looking for work. I am glad to get to know someone who is diving now. I can't wait to learn what the life of a comercial diver is like.
My son is really wanting to get to work, but it seems right now, there are no openings for a entry level Tender. He is a bit older than most of the young men that went through the program with him. He did some construction after high school, but felt like there was something better for him. When the bottom fell out of the Real Estate Market here in the USA, and the building of new homes slowed down, it was the perfect time for him to go to Santa Barbara, and join their program. He is going to be 30 this October. He has worked really hard, and is very good at what he has learned. I am just hoping he gets an opporunity to work soon.
He is also on this site. His name is Travis Smith, and I am sure he would love to talk to someone with the same intrest as he. All of his friends from the program are all off shore, and so he has been in Louisiana for about 3 weeks, with basically no one to talk to. Maybe you could add him too.
I see you are in or from Italy. My husband is Italian. His name is Robert Fiocca. He was born and raised in Connetticutt, but has been here on the central coast of California for about 35 years.
Again, thanks for the add. I hope you can give me some insight into comercial diving, the life style, and the work.
I will be looking forward to hearing from you.
Lisa
