Yeah it is slow offshore everywhere I guess, I guess keep working till things pick up out there before quitting to go sit in Asia and wait for a job to come up would be a good idea...hopefully things get better sometime this year, fall would be good.
Yeah I went to the UK and got my HSE ticket so I should be good there, just need to get on the phone and email in the meantime, till I have some money saved and am ready for a change, then go to the tropics and look for some warm water work lol!
Thanks alot again Bill, anything else you may think of that could help me would be greatly appreciated!

On the Singapore deal, ordinarilly I'd say go for it and hammer down doors, but these are extraordinary times and there are alot of divers on doorsteps right now. Don't be afraid to list with some of the headhunters like compass, subsea work, etc. keep an eye on the trades and hang tuff for a bit. By & large canadians are preferred by some outfits-we generally have dcbc/hse certs which are very popular and easily slotted to imca and hse jurisdictions. - bill
Yeah I kinda stopped applying for offshore once I got this job, but I am going to start back up here soon...I have DMT and cswip 3.1uu ndt, so hopefully that might help once oil starts to pick back up...
I have heard that it is difficult for a Canadian to get mobilized for overseas work do to it being expensive to fly us from here in comparison to UK divers ect...and that I may have better luck flying to Thailand or Singapore and knocking on doors, waiting for a job to fire up...any thoughts on this?

I don't see the market being wide open for divers anytime soon. It wouldn't hurt to start campaigning the biggies, helix, technip, caldive, etc.

Shane, I started off as an apprentice pile driver/diver, on completion of my apprenticeship I immigrated to australia to work the oilfield- Bass Strait from there I worked south east asia, china, middle east, africa, north sea. Its kept me fairly busy. When I needed a break I came back to canada to drive truck, or commercial fish, or take on small diving projects.etc, -bill
