Katrina opened the door unrealistically wide. I`ve been working offshore over 30 yrs. that last burst was unreal and now a lucky few that got some bottom time are scrambling for anything. Best opportunities pre katrina were middle east, asia & africa. Best hope is things are still busy in africa. picking up in me and asia. There is a move afoot in india to use indian personnell, so expect expats to be passed over in the future. Beware of nigeria esp. working out of port harcourt=dangerous. catch ya later-bill

Good Day Bill,
I believe there were 31 of us starting and 28 who graduated. I loved working Offshore in the GOM. I really miss it. After the recession hit the US really bad there was not to much diving work for Canadians do to Hurricane Katrina work being pretty much all cleaned up. After that I moved back to Inland diving in good old cold Canada. As far as where I'd like to work offshore is always my goal. I was trying to get over to India, I even have obtained a 15 year Vias. In all honesty location really does not matter I'll go anywhere the work is.

Take Care, Dive Safe
