If you want to satisfy your commercial fetish and try a dive in surface-supplied commercial diving gear check out the "Hat-Diving" specialty offered at Scubadive West.

Yes I've parked my plans too. Things are so bad at the moment I'm just going to sit tight for the time being until things pick up and then try again. The recession can't last for ever can it !?!

I would have to agree with both Simon and Tiernan. There is a lot of guys out there that have no work and the same goes for the offshore industry. Consider it again in about a year or so.

I would echo what Simon is telling you. Plenty of experienced divers sitting at home without work at the moment. Why spend £10k to join them?

Frank. The honest answer at the minute is don't waste your money. Ask around or read some other commercial diving forums about how much work is available to new divers. The answer is next to nothing.

I'm currently going for my Com. Diving ticket. Any hints tips or oppertunity to see a commercial operation in action would be very appreciated.
