What do you guys think about women commercial divers? I'm not one, but I know a gal interested in becoming one. In such a male-dominated industry, would it be harder for a woman to have a successful career? Would you enjoy working side by side with women?

Don't forget it comes in handy lining up flange h***s.
i think that guy answered it prettty good, lol
What? WHF Dude! are you recruiting or is this an over the top attempt to be funny ? You might want to cut back on looking at your porno sites. Your still in school and where you are training yourself to go you will want yourself to fit in not standout.
she just has to put up or shut up. and i said put "up" and not "out".
Why would a woman want to do the job? it's phyically hard, dirty, smelly and not very pleasant most of the time. not at all glamorous.
and so... whats the big deal on that,,,,
When I was an Instructor I was not happy to see females in my cla****.Their first contact with me was in their second 8-week course of rigging. Then later on in the drown proofing Open Tanks and Finally on the 16-weeks of Barges in the pristine LA.Harbor.My job was to try and get people ready to start tending work in the GOM,and not quit the first week down there because billy-bob on the rig pinched his ass or the people talk funny and eat stuff that looks like road kill! I got rid of allot of students.I know most of the Dive Contractors personally and I did not want them calling me up and telling me I sent them a sc**bag. No one called me the few years I worked there.I had several women fail the cla****. I treated them just like the men.The women that passed were extraordinary people. I never had any ideal that a woman could do what they did.I was so proud of them! They compensated for physical strength with smarter rigging and pre dive planning.I had one girl hold an open-water flange bolting project time record for over several months.I had guys that could bench almost 500lbs fail that project. So I say that women can do the work. That includes Bell Diver Rescue. Now to say what the main problem is!,Us,men! Offshore women can cause fights and worse.I was on a few Dutch DSVs and the cooks and maids were drop dead gorgeous! When the dive crew arrived some of the girls took to us and ditched the male crew they were attending!I was not getting anything so it upset me seeing a girl punched. I just don`t like that sort of thing and took the guy to the fantail and showed him the prop-wash.Enough said about that. So , the right job and living conditions , then yes Women divers are fine, but no fighting!
Trust you ? What ? How would you know ? Did I read it right your presently still in dive school ? Have you ever served in the military ? Female Navy diver chicks dont look like Male Navy divers. Navy divers are given a job told to go it and shut the f'up unless its a safety issue. So when do you finish school? I hope I get to get a chance to work with you on my crew you should provide many hours of entertainment for the rest of the crew. I am sure the rest of the crew will learn alot from your wisdon.
It is about brains, muscle, and discipline.
The problem is not size, or strength. Its ability. I have worked with women in all manner of fields over the year. In the military, in the security services, and in diving. Like most males in those chosen professions. It takes a certain type if individual tackle and take on those endeavers. A properly trained woman, like a properly trained man, can do just as well in the diving profession. But the term properly trained is the key point. Training is just not text books. It also means that on your off time you get your chubby ass to the gym. That means you work on your upper body strength and endurance. I have been on jobs at Sub Sea before they got bought by Global, where the woman divers out performed the male divers because the male divers were a bunch of fat son of a b****es because when they got off the job they hit the bar instead of the gym like the girls did. The thing is I have worked with both, and some of the girls did fairly well, and some did not. It is more of an individual thing instead of a gender thing. I have had guys that could not find their ass with both their hands even if it was infront of their face.
What, I ain't even had a chance to flirt with you and you're already cheating! I'm putting that ring back in the bubble gum machine.
I was having a hell of a time with crew for the last 9 years since I started this company. So, last winter I hired a couple of girls. They're fast learners, hard workers, tough and they can hold thier own on a strenuous job. Don't get big headed girls you can be a pain in the ass too but, no more than the men. Girls I don't know about other employers, me I don't care about gender I care about results.
