Go to Croatia -Town Makarska very good pleace for divers,a lot of place to look. Must to see a Brela ,beautiful dive on vrulja source of fresh water from sea.
Climb Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, go rafting in the River Nile in Uganda, watch Victoria Falls and go rafting in the Zambezi river in Zimbabwe. Then chill out and go speerfishing on Zanzibar.
Dale ever been diving in Truk (Chuk) Lagoon on the sunken vessel San Francisco Maru looking at the WWII Japanese 1 man tanks that are sitting on the deck in clear warm water at 177'?
A couple of years ago I went backpacking in East Africa. These were definitly the highlights. The river Nile and the Zambezi river are some of the wildest rivers on this planet.
About the spearfishing on Zanzibar. As a novice myself, I think it's the perfect place. I went up North to Nungwi beach, stayed in beachhuts and went fishing every day. Met a few local fisherman too, they agreed me going with if I paid for their hasjiesh.
There is some big game (massive barracudas, trevallies, spanish mackrels etc) if your aim is good. I heard there are a few specialized (dive)shops now in Stonetown (capital of zanzibar) who take tourists spearfishing. By what I've seen, all spearfishing is still done by bow and arrow. I bought mine in Dar Es Salaam, it's a Beuchat and costed me around 60 euros. Fit's perfect in a backpack. Have fun!
