Subsea Vehicle Engineer / Submersible Equipment Manager (Seattle, WA)
OceanGate LLC, a subsea research and expedition operator, seeks a Subsea Vehicle Engineer / Submersible Equipment Manager for its expanding manned submersible and ROV operation. The position is based in Seattle, Washington.
Job duties includes and responsibilities:
- Responsible for the repair, maintenance, and modifications of company operated submersibles and related equipment or facilities. This includes the development of budgets and maintenance schedules, contractor selection, contractor management, and interfacing with regulatory agencies.
- Makes recommendations to ownership for asset acquisition and disposal.
- Likely to interface often with clients or media.
- Supervises or performs timely and cost-effective maintenance, repair, modification, and refurbishment of existing subsea vehicles or facilities.
- Monitors the progress of contractors during projects.
- Works outside in conditions of both hot and cold temperatures as well as inside in an office and shop environment.
- Exposed to odors, dust, dirt, mechanical hazards, high noise levels and potentially hazardous equipment.
- Will involve travel to multiple locations and extended stays away from home, including foreign countries.
PHYSICAL LIMITATIONS: Must be able to fit entire body through an 18" diameter hatch. Must be able to crouch and stoop to get into areas with restricted headroom, to climb ladders and to lift and carry 50-75 lbs. Preferable height less than 5' 9" and weight less than 180 pounds.
WORK PERMIT: Must be able to legally work in the USA and have a current Passport.
EDUCATION: At least 5 years experience in a subsea- or mechanical-related field or a Bachelors degree in engineering. Licensed engineer preferred, but not required.
WORK EXPERIENCE: Minimum 3 years experience in subsea operations, with engineering or mechanical work in the subsea industry preferred. Experience with electrical systems, hydraulics, and high pressure (>3,000 PSI) air systems required.
