i just called them and the guy (Dan) that speaks to divers and employment is out of country for a week.
Toby,

I am in Equatorial Guinea putting together some contracts. I will be able to call you after I get back in the States.

Sorry for not getting back to you by email. I had over 200 people email and call me for this job and really have not been able to repond to people personally before I flew out. We had only one day to put together a dive team and get them all over here for this job.

If you'd like to work for us, you'll need a yellow fever shot. We'll cover that if you want to be on our call-out list.

Call me on my cell after the 27th. Check your email.

Yes Dan Dolson and Toby I am interested but first I have several questions.
So what kind of agreement do I sign and how does it differ from being an employee or are we actually going as employees ? What employee rights are not going to be covered and what will I have to assume ?
Will I be considered or become a sub contractor ?
Will I have transportation while on the job ? Please be real clear because being on foot is and stranded is the worst.
Where would I stay while working ? Who pays ? Single or double rooms ?
Are meals or Per diem included ?
When and how often are the paydays and do they have direct deposit ?
How is medical coverage handled and is workers comp included ?
What if the out of Country Contractor decides to not pay up could I be stranded in a Foreign Country and then will I be entitled to my wages ?
When going out of Country many of these items come into play and I have found from experience its always better to be able to ask the right questions and have it explained before leaveing for the job, later is too late and just get stuck with things we had no idea of and may have been blind to. Only the experienced ones know what I am saying here the newbees dont know squat in this reguard and are totally blind. Ask all of the right questions first after the fact is too late.
Thanks for taking your time with me with the above questions.
Ps to those who may be reading this and think these above questions are asking too much well man are you ever in need of an out of the Country education because as it stands today boy are you dumb. Educate yourself before you say yes.
Ace- i know you. You are very careful. Good questions. You REALLY want to make sure these questions are answered by seattle diving PRIOR to leaving the country. Make sure you inquire about pay periods and how you are being paid.
Thanks Jerry
