Just wanted to know if anyone out there is or was a civilian DOD diver. I am very interested in getting a slot at a shipyard dive locker. I worked at PSNS and was very interested in working for the shop 740 dive locker, unfortunately at that time it was a non option. No slots were open. Decided to be proactive and obtain my commercial diver certification and get on with a company that does ships husbandry on US Navy surface vessels. Currently working at a US Navy Ship Repair Facility as a contractor Diver, its close to my goal but still not what I am working for. My goal is to get in as a DOD diver. I want to participate in a larger scope of work that my current position does not offer. Any advice, suggestions or POCs. Thanks in advance for any responses.
