Hi everyone,

I am still a newbie being underwater professionally and was looking for some expert help.

It seems like there is not much choice out there for helmets. Either choose a KM superlite, a Desco, or a Miller.

What do people choose, and who chooses (so do you all have your own helmets or does the company provide them?).

What are the pro's and con's of each and have I missed any option?

Do divers need another supplier? From what I have heard KM basically supplies all helmets, that they make a decent product are way overpriced and hard to actually get, but this might be wrong.

Thoughts? Thanks in advance.

Thanks. Any lay of the land information? Who uses what, when?

Thanks.
Check out website www.heavymetaldivers.com for another bronze shell diving helmet. High tech ,high performance Poseidon Xstream Duration regulator.
First thing that you should do is when you go offshore use the shop hats or see if someone will let you diver theirs. Test them out and see with hat you are comfortable with. (Is the hat too tight? Is it too big? Does your head move in the hat and the hat doesn't move?) There are pros and cons but "don't believe the hipe". Pick some thing that you are comfortable with, after all you are the one spending a few grand on a hat!

They are other people that manufacture hats but KM is the most trusted in the field. I have a friend that got out of dive school and got SL-27, bailout, whip, spares, and USN hat box for 3,000 on craigslist. Deals are out there you just have to look. Also try offshorediver.com for sales and advice.
