Diving and supervising at the same time sux, what's worse is training up the sup while you're on the bottom.
I like what one of my divers said after I gave my "Start of the job speech". If James is yelling you,re f##king up. I'll go beyond that. If you're f##king up, and I'm not yelling, better start packing your bags.

I'd rather be cursed at and chastised, that's better than being sent to the house.
I 1dislike supervising. Everyone wants to tell me how to run my job, When ya can tell me the dive station is setup to my expections, that all valves are open or closed. That nothing can damage my life support system; and the power to the electronics are plugged in, meaning correct voltage, correct HZ. That we all agree it's safe. Now let's discuss the dive!I don't mind telling a company man NO! I like too get paid also. Test gas, lmao, why does evryone call An o2 fitting a #6 jic, it's not never has been , and never will be. How does that lil ole o2 analayzer work, It's FM dip stick, it's a chemical reaction. Perhaps we may want to recognize Rack Operators, or lead diver,Maybe tender would be more informed if the tryed to learn,I thought that at J&J Marine and Diving I was being held back, 1977-1980. I look back at it and relize ;I was learning. Then Natilus evironmental, 2yrs with Ross Saxon, and Bruce Sorensen,I was still a dummy. Sure I can go down and burn gas, I can take up space on deck.
ethan, i'm a diver and i've worked with chris pritchett. he is a great supervisor and has his s*** together and quite a few divers and tenders will follow and work for him. who the hell are you to make any kind of judgement, comment or statement to any single person in the dive industry? i'm not trying to stop you from it either. i actually encourage you to keep doing it. the one's of us that have been in the gulf for a bit know exactly why i'm saying that to you. the terms "run off" and "starved out" will be in your vocabulary soon enough.
Toby

Chris Pritchett, has always been a good hand as a tender, diver and Supervisior. Ethan I would dive for Chris any time.
i agree john

Just consider the possibility that you have an ego problem. As to the longest run on sentence, I wrote one that was 60 words long. It had a capital at the start and a period at the end. My publisher said it was the longest he had ever seen.

Just a thought that you might consider: Arrogance, no matter how smart you are will not impress the down in the mud diver. The conversation here is what you are looking for in a Dive Supervisor. The way I look at the job is: Get ‘em down and back safely. Get some work out of them that I can tie to next divers work. Chris has proved himself to many of us you have not.
Terrick;

I hate it when the Sups do a crappy turn around. You end up wasting your time haveing to get the Sup that just came on up to speed.
