Standard call out for me.

A 50meter super yacht has a fouled anchor nothing special in that.

Sort kit +2 x lift bags 500kgs each and a couple of 200kgs just in case.

The Plan.We will bring the hook to the surface and then have the chain hauled in little by little as I guide the bags around two other super yacht chains simple yes.

Ok on site, brief the crews of what is going to happen.

The engines have to be run up for the hydraulics to work I don’t like it, but with a fully qualified crew no problem here as I see it, they will stay in the berth while I finish my other task on the vessel next door that they know is going to happen immediately after their’s, this chain is in front of the vessel I have just cleared .

Just as I start my return run back along the chain the first vessel slips its lines and is now bearing down on my cox’n who is screaming down the vhf to stop and waving an A flag at the same time people on the quay are shouting stop.

no notice was taken or reply made.

Leaving me hanging on ( in fact it was more like making passionate love to the chain as they drove over me or becoming one with the chain) something like that.

My cox’n saw that I was ok and chased after the yacht.

A few choice words were exchanged and then some!!!???? Along with why did you cast off.

Answer . our agent is calling us as we are late for the refuelling booking.

Cox’n you also haven’t paid

Answer. sorry we forgot

Cox’n to steve  how much $$$ having had 5mins on the quay and much attention from very concerned marina staff and others.

 I just doubled price.

Well  thankfully still here to laugh about it.

This would make a good cartoon, diver on chain propellers spinning above, and a divers statement saying I just love it down here. While looking like he has been put though a full washing machine cycle.

Needless to say similar job today a very very in your face brief and a full marina crew on the quay to make sure they could not cast off.

That will work incident free. Yippy.
