Hi,

There have been a few CO diving related incidents reported in recent months.  I'm interested to know the following:-

  1. What kind of precautions do you/have you used to avoid CO contamination?  (Compressor monitors, gas tubes, panel monitors, catalysts etc)
  2. What do you think the industry attitude is to the dangers of CO?
  3. What are your thoughts?

Thanks again in advance for the feedback.

Regards,

Simon

Compressors are tested every six months, use a Drager system.  A good seasoned diver will know the early symptoms and alert the supervisor.  A good crew will be watching the wind and intake.  We had a problem not long ago with near by ships and their exhaust.  Just shut down the compressor, go to HP air, bleed down the volume tank, when the problem goes away, start up the compressor and go back to normal ops.  When working in a hazardous area, use HP air only.

Made a jump into 200fsw on air and the volume tanks were full of carbon monoxide damn near died.

After that all panels were set up with inline monitors.
