Well in the nicest way the 1970’s, well for me 1975, it was not like you and many others would have it.

Don’t get me wrong yes indeed there were some real nasty incidents, but what most won’t have is!! without it we would not be were we are today, in some cases to me today we are in over kill mode.

 was I lucky, I do not know, but having worked with a number of the best of the older hard hat guys from the uk  pre Tupperware.

Each task was given to me in much the same way as it is done today, then as now there are good and bad places to learn your skills.

Steve I must agree 100% with you on this The new guys in the field are only as good as the guys teaching them both in school and in the field. Ther has been a gap here in the GOM you have very few 15 to 20 plus years and a butt load of "I just completed school and know everything there is to know" I'm also a firm beleiver that safety it self can become a safety issue in its own if not properly implimented
Now thats a blast from the past is Dougie still around? He was my the lead diver/sup many moons ago. Subsea days!
